Identification of bottlenecks in maritime transport
European Commission started “Bottleneck Exercise” Project in 1999, with the aim to identify obstacles which impede freight and passenger transport in Europe. Within this project, all subjects in transport chain have been invited to submit in detail their experiences and observations concerning bottlenecks.
Short Sea Shipping Centre Croatia (SPC Croatia) has maintained the initiative by running the project Identification of Bottlenecks in Maritime Transport which started in July 2008. The aim of this project was unified collection of “bottle necks” recognized by users as difficulty in their work or progress, as well as initiation and persistence on their systematic elimination.
Bottleneck is any obstacle to unobstructed freight and passenger transport, no matter whether it is administrative, operational, legal, local, national or any similar problem. Participants of this project are invited to suggest efficient solution model.
Bottlenecks are collected via web form and are divided into categories depending on the problem:
•Perception of the Short Sea Shipping
•Administrational bottom necks
•Bottlenecks connected with intermodal adjustment
•Ports
•Other
